Airbnb is a mission-driven company dedicated to helping create a world where anyone can belong anywhere. It takes a unified team committed to our core values to achieve this goal. Airbnb's various functions embody the company's innovative spirit and our fast-moving team is committed to leading as a 21st century company.

About Finance Technology

The Finance Technology team manages a complex and innovative ecosystem of products and applications, and is  responsible for driving key outcomes for all stakeholders who rely on Airbnb's Financial Information. Some of these include a) ensuring taxes are charged, collected, remitted and reported correctly b)  manage all things cash (reconciliation, hedging, treasury), c) ensure every transaction is accounted correctly and ready for audit and investor reporting, d) provide critical data and metrics, e) provide top-to-bottom insurance protection for guests and hosts, and f) provide critical enterprise applications to employees (e.g, ERP, Equity). Everything we do is exemplified due to the scale - hundreds of currencies, thousands of tax authorities, millions of users, and billions of dollars (and transaction volume). Our approach is to build platform solutions to help the company grow by bringing new markets and demographics, be compliant, optimize costs and enable new business initiatives to thrive

About FinTech Product Management

We build FinTech platform products to support our community of guests and hosts. We also build generic financial platform products that can enable new product launches at scale. Some of the Platform Products we are responsible for include

  1. Data Collection Platform - to collect and validate tax information across the globe from guests and hosts
  2. Tax Quotation Platform - to scale indirect and direct taxes that we need to charge and display to guests and hosts across more than 30K jusrisdictions
  3. Invoicing Platform - Delivering compliance invoices customized to local regulatory needs for our guests and hosts
  4. Data Products - Delivering compliance (tax and payments) reporting (such as 1099, MTL in US etc.) to hosts and governments
  5. Platform Financials Ecosystem - Reporting of key company and platform finance metrics such as Revenue, GBV, Cash etc. with timeliness and quality
  6. Treasury and Cash Products - Managing cash at scale, so our guests can pay in preferred currency and our hosts can be paid on time in their preferred currency and Airbnb can manage the risk associated with movement of cash in multiple currencies. Reconciliation of money movement across multiple currencies, processors and banks.

The FinTech ecosystem across the globe is constantly in flux, and Airbnb has to adapt to these changes quickly. We also provide help and tools to our community across 200+ countries, helping local economies and hosts. Changing regulations are one of the major pain points to hosting and are continuing to increase in complexity. We are beginning a journey to rethink and re-architect how we can solve problems of our broader stakeholders - guests, hosts and jurisdictions..
