The Expedia Group Media Solutions product team is looking for a Principal Product Manager to join our team and lead the development of one of our most exciting product areas, the development of our sponsored listings product for our Flights business. This leader will work across commercial and technical teams in Media Solutions, the Air line of business and broader teams across Expedia Group to develop the sponsored listings product from its current beta state to a fully-fledged offering for our air partners. 


As the Principal PM, you will be valued member of our team, responsible for owning and executing on the flight sponsored listings product strategy and ultimately help us setup the long term path for the product which is a key differentiator for Expedia Group and the Media Solutions division. This will involve the full product lifecycle: from gathering requirements from internal and external constituents to ensuring we achieve the right outcome. Working closely with technology and commercial teams to translate requirements into fully realized programs and outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the transformation of the fledgling flight sponsored listings product into a powerful performance advertising vehicle that facilitate rapid partner adoption by airlines and incremental commercial benefit

  • Define priorities and build the Flight Sponsored Listings roadmap, articulating the product vision and tying program value to partner needs

  • Partner with product, experience design and engineering leaders in platform and flights line of business to prioritize backlogs and delivery timelines against program priorities and partner value

  • Work with product marketing to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer

  • Independently propose and motivate changes in technology, platform or direction based on strong understanding of technologies, benefits and trade-offs and data at the organizational impact level

  • Communicate appropriately with all levels within EG to ensure transparency of progress, risks and risk mitigation and garner support for changes in scope, schedule, and/or budget

  • Lead customer expectations and resolve conflicts that balance customer, brand and technology needs

  • Act as a connector to build strong working relationships and foster an environment of trust and partnership across teams.

  • Become a leading authority on new products or technology, as required by job demands.

  • Serve as a mentor to junior members of the team and raise the bar for the entire team.

Competencies:

  • Deep experience in agile/scrum software delivery practices in a fast paced environment

  • A passion for working across teams to drive high level solutions, resolve detailed operational issues, and ability to draw upon your experience in solving business problems through technology.

  • Familiarity with APIs, workflow modeling, and enterprise application integration

  • Detail oriented, yet able to look at a wide array of choices, identify what truly matters, and resolve problems at time based on incomplete or imperfect information.

  • Effective written and oral communication with multiple levels of business and technical leadership

  • Deep understanding of software development processes including development, configuration, testing, and deployment

  • Ability to apply deep business knowledge to drive strategic direction and vision for his/her group or operating unit

  • Ability to advise on and inspire changes in the strategy or organization

  • Maturity, judgment; and influence, analytical, and leadership skills

  • A bias to action as a self-starter with a curious mind, constantly working to achieve better results, gain a better understanding of the business, and deliver better value to partners and customers


Experience and Qualification:

  • Significant product management experience in a variety of e-Commerce applications and/or large scale platform(s).

  • Airline/travel domain expertise, specifically in the areas of air shopping, pricing and inventory/availability

  • Advertising/media domain expertise an advantage
